This week in Language Arts we are continuing with the middle section of our rough drafts of our imaginative stories. Mini lessons this week, at the beginning of each class, include types of conflict, a review of dialogue, a review of transition sentences, and then revising/editing. We will work during class each day. I don't really want the students to work ahead at home at this time, as we are implementing our mini lessons into our writing each day. I will conference with the students throughout the week this week. On Friday, students will then be free to complete suggested revising and editing on their own, either by hand or on Google Drive, with the final copy due 4/22.
In Texas History, we are finishing up the Civil War and looking at our state during the period of Reconstruction. Students will be doing some review, followed by an open notes/book test that we will work on IN CLASS over a period of three days. There is a homework assignment for Social Studies this week. It will be assigned today, 3/11, and due on 4/22. It is a concrete poem with the focus on Reconstruction. Directions will be given and reviewed today before being sent home. Students really can't start this until we have finished our study of Reconstruction, but if they want to do any research on their own before that point when the newspapers are sent home, they are welcome.
That's it for now. I hope you all have a wonderful week.
