While we obviously aren't playing basketball, I feel like March Madness is still appropriate. First of all, I can't believe tomorrow it will be March. That's just crazy!! There is so much going on, and the weather is...wait, the weather isn't changing. It never really got cold this year, did it? But I digress...
In writing I am working with Mrs. Burke's and Mrs. Ebert's classes this week for a double block I had so much fun working with the other two classes for a longer amount of time last week. It really allowed me to witness more in their writing, and the conversations being had absolutely made my whole year. I'm looking forward to that same experience with the other two classes this week. :) Mr. Fanelli's class and Mr. Miller's class will be meeting with Mrs. Watts, as she continues on with games and activities to support more of the mechanical (grammar and spelling weaknesses). We have met each day in the mornings and at lunch to keep each other up to date with what is working and what needs to be changed. Overall, it seems to be working well.
I only teach my own homeroom social studies, so we are getting it in here and there during homeroom times and in their reading classes. We will be doing some writing with current social studies topics as well during writing lessons next week.
This week the first of the fourth grades goes to Westcave Preserve. The classes go in twos, but since we are an odd number this year, my class will go with Mr. Miller's and Mrs. Ebert's classes this Thursday, March 3. I have two chaperones going with my kids, with those teachers, and other support staff as well. This will allow me to stay behind and continue the work I've begun with smaller groups of kids working on finalizing expository pieces and analyzing other pieces.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!!
