In Writing this week we are working in our stations to master skills in grammar and editing, letter writing, revising, and spelling. Our spelling focus this week is a review of all plural rules. At the teacher table this week, we will continue our work on planning our expository writing.
In Social Studies, we are wrapping up our study on the Native Americans. We are going to learn about the European explorers that came to Texas, understand their impact on the Native Americans, and realize the reasons for their exploration. The kids have all been avid learners and excellent participants in class discussions.
This Friday is Halloween This is not a school celebrated holiday. Though we may do some fun, out-of-the-ordinary activities on that day, the students will still be engaged in learning. As a special request, please check your children's backpacks for "candy contraband" on Monday morning. It is not allowed to be eaten in the classroom...only at lunch or after school.
Have a wonderful week, and enjoy Halloween with your kiddos.
Don't forget...the newest Social Studies/Writing extension is on this website (posted last week). I added a new button called Social Studies Extensions (above). GT students in Social Studies or Writing, should do this assignment. All students are welcomed and encouraged to do it as well.
