We will recognize Valentine's Day on Friday, Feb. 12th. At 2:00. We will decorate bags and pass out/collect Valentines from classmates. I emailed a list of student names earlier this week. Let me know if you didn't receive it.
It's taken a while, but I finally finished grading all the expository poems and grading/regrading the Google Classroom expositories. All grades are posted. This week we began revisiting the format for the expository, based on some of the errors I saw in the kids' writing. Next week we will begin a more formal expository. We will be working on it in chunks so that it is more manageable for one, and also so I can check each step along the way.
Thank you for overseeing the recent revising and editing practice that was due today. I'll get those graded and posted as soon as possible. If your child has an assignment that shows as "msg" please remember it averages in as a zero until something is turned in. You may have received progress reports from your child's teachers if he/she is failing due to missing assignments.
We had to slow down a bit in Texas History. We are still reading and learning about the Alamo. A little trivia for you, (especially those who aren't from Texas). The Alamo is just one battle of the Texas Revolution. The Battle of Gonzales started it off. The Battle of San Jacinto is the last battle. The Texans won that battle in a surprise attack that lasted only 18 minutes. It was the shortest battle on record. That is when Texas won her freedom from Mexico.
That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.
