This week...
Language Arts: Reading and Writing will overlap a bit as we begin to study our next reading genre, Poetry. We will be working quite a bit on reading and interpreting poetry, but there will also be a short writing project on poetry that will be completed MOSTLY in class beginning next week. Students' reading time this week for homework is to go to the Google Classroom and do the "Flipped Classroom" assignment. We went over it today, and they all know how to access it. If your child is unable to access it at home for any reason, please send a note or an email, so I can make other arrangements for him or her. Otherwise, students will be expected to be very familiar with the information on the site by Monday, Jan. 9th.
Specific to writing we will be reviewing our first 3 steps of Cubing. (see last month's entry for more information), homophones, and transition sentences. We are busy writing every day in our journals, unless we are typing in the Google Drive. I'm seeing quite a bit of progress. It makes me proud.
In Social Studies, we are wrapping up our unit on Texas Missions and will soon be moving forward to Texas Settlements.
That's it for now. Thanks for checking in on this short week! :)
