This week we are working on transition sentences that help move our writing along in both narratives and expositories. In addition we will be focusing on commas in sentences, prepositional phrases, and writing a clear message. It is important for students to understand that spelling, although not officially tested, is still important. We work on specific rules and patterns in class. We have a huge word wall in class, and the students have personal word walls in their homework folders. Please remind your children that misspelling words that are readily available, especially when the words are located on the very paper on which they are working, is unacceptable. Points will be deducted for carelessness.
In Social Studies we will have an open-notes test on the Texas Revolution. The kids reviewed with me today, and they know the material very well. Next up, we will learn about Texas as a republic before it joins the Union in 1845.
Please see the Upcoming Dates page, as I added a LOT of things to it.
