This week in Writing we have a short three days of instruction. We have STAAR Math testing Monday and STAAR Reading testing Tuesday. Following that we will finish a quick write assignment the kids started Friday, and then begin to look at persuasive writing. Students were introduced to writing scripts and have worked in groups to create their own plays. This is not an assignment that will come in for a grade, as at fourth grade it is only introduced. However, students are creating the plays on Google Drive, so they are able to access them from home and continue on their own time if they'd like.
Klein's Kids:
In Social Studies, we saw Texas into the 20th century, studying about ranching, railroads, and most recently, the discovery of oil! Students are learning how new technology can be seen as both a positive and a negative depending on the invention and how one is affected. Students have worked in pairs on filling out study guides for Texas Studies Weekly 25-27. This will count as a test grade upon completion this week. Next up in Texas History will be to look at Texas in the Dust Bowl and how the state survived the Great Depression.
That's it for now. I hope all the moms out there enjoyed Mother's Day today. I always love spending this day with my babies (aged 15 and 13). :) Have a wonderful week!
