I hope you all enjoyed the weekend. Next weekend you get 4 DAYS!! That's pretty exciting. We are wrapping things up around here in our final days of fourth grade. Be sure to check all of your children's teachers' webpages to be sure you are up to date on things that are going on.
In Language Arts, the students had one more day to work on their persuasive advertisement, which is part of their Market Days project in math. Anyone who does not have a grade posted in the online grade portal needs to finish it and bring it in tomorrow. In addition, one other writing assignment the kids are doing for their Market Days project is a written reflection on the steps taken to prepare for their actual day of sales. We will finish that in class tomorrow.
Other things going on this week include creating our writing portfolios for the year (those will go home this week,) a fourth grade writing activity which focuses on advice for next year's 4th graders, and time for students to finish up their scripts they started on Google Drive earlier in the month. Lots of things that pop up at the end of the year around campus seem to affect our schedule from time to time, so we all try to remain flexible with our time and lessons to accommodate last minute activities.
In Social Studies we are reading about the New Deal and what it meant for Texans during that time. We don't have much left in Texas History!! But never fear, your kids will get it again in 7th grade! I highly recommend that your child keeps his or her S.S. journals and newspapers as the information will be a great basis for what they will learn in a few years. 7th grade goes into more depth than 4th, but the topics are the same. Trust me...you'll thank me later.
