This week in Language Arts:
Students are working in stations. One focus is creating a mini comic book about one of the European explorers that came to or through Texas. All the research was completed last week. These are fun to look at, and I will put them out in the hall before our holiday party so you can see them. :)
Another station focuses on taking the students through the writing process as they complete another expository. The prompt this time is What is your favorite season? Why do you like it and what makes it special? We completed our brainstorming last week.
A third station involves some various seat work, mostly around the topic of drama. Students are learning about stage directions and how they help a reader speak "like" the character with correct emotion and cadence.
While this is going on, I am working with small groups reading a short play, perfecting their ability as readers to use correct inflection and timing. Ss will also discuss with me what they are reading in their novels.
