Hello, Everyone! I hope you had an enjoyable "chilly" weekend. I for one like that it's not constantly 90+degrees in April. Summer is long and hot enough to have consistently high temps this early!
This week in Language Arts: Our STAAR Writing test is tomorrow, April 10th. We have had our reviews and today we went over frequently asked questions and answers to alleviate any undo stress about the testing environment tomorrow. The desks will be split so that each child has his/her own space with little visual distractions to interfere with their focus. Students will need two #2 pencils tomorrow. No mechanical pencils are permitted. I will have extra sharpened pencils on hand in the event that all of their pencils are dull and need sharpening during the test. Students are permitted to bring 2 to 3 healthy NEAT snacks. They will be allowed to eat them whenever they feel like they need them. Water bottles are okay as well, but the bottles must ONLY have water, and they need to have a closeable lid.
Beginning Wednesday, we will be working on Social Studies integrated with Reading for the remainder of the week. This will include some research of the important people who are buried in the Texas State Cemetery, which is one of our upcoming field trips. We are finishing up the Texas Revolution and will have an open notes test this Thursday.
Enjoy your week.
