This week in Language Arts: We will be focusing on poetry in both reading and writing. As we add new skills to be utilized, they are frequently spiraled in throughout the year. Though we will be working on poetry, students will also have a chance to complete their last narratives that we started last week. Narratives not completed by Thursday will become homework. I prefer the students finish in class. If your child does bring it home to work on, I'm going to ask that you not assist. At this point in the year, the grading is based on small components that we have covered in class. For example, points are not taken at this time for spelling outside of words your child has in his or her writing folder. Points are also not lost for lack of depth, as this takes a while to build. Thank you for understanding.
In Social Studies we will continue our look at government, comparing local, state, and national as well as the three branches of government.
I sent an email this afternoon to sign up for conferences if you'd like to meet. Conference day is October 8th.
Thanks for stopping by!
