This week in Language Arts:
Monday was all review for tomorrow's STAAR writing test. We did some activities to get us moving and reviewing strategies. The kids are ready. We have a few with some pretty major test anxiety. I tried to alleviate that today. I told them they have learned what they need, and we've practiced. All they need to do is read and answer questions carefully using the strategies taught, check over answers, plan for the composition, revise and edit the rough draft, and copy the final composition neatly. Students can take little mind breaks and stretch breaks whenever they need to do so. They can cover their tests, scoot their chairs back and have snack or sip water whenever they need to do that as well. There are no whole group breaks.
After the STAAR, we will get back into poetry again as a review. It's perfect because April is National Poetry Month. :)
This week in Social Studies: We won't really focus on SS again until Wednesday. At that time, we will be learning about Texas as the 28th state in the Union, the challenges they faced, and how the annexation led to war with Mexico.
Please check the Upcoming Dates tab. Have a great week!!
