In Language Arts we are finishing up our expository on something we believe in, and we are practicing applying skills with paired passages. The students are doing well with it. We are also circling back around to homophones as this is an area of spelling many kids have trouble with.
Hi Everyone, I hope you had a nice weekend. I know a few of you got to do something with a little Texas flair to it. March 2nd was Texas Independence Day. I wish there was more to do to celebrate in the capital city. Thanks to those of you who shared emails and texts about what you did. We are continuing our timeline of the Alamo's 13 day siege. The fall of the Alamo happened on March 6, 1836 at the same time as a group of almost 60 men met at Washington on the Brazos to write up a declaration to be free from Mexico. We will be moving quickly through the rest of the events of 1836 up to Texas' freedom from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto. There is so much information in this era of Texas history that I've pushed out some opportunities for further exploration in reading stations this week. (Check out wheretexasbecametexas.org for more information about the historic site of Washington on the Brazos.
