Thanks for checking in! :)
In Language Arts, we have been continuing our study of grammar through analyzing mentor texts and practicing making changes to example texts. This includes looking to see what revision will look like as it's tested in the spring on the STAAR. You should have seen a filled out example on 11-5. That's yours to keep. I just wanted you to get an idea of how that type of concept is tested. In addition, students have written rough drafts, revised, and edited them, and are ready for creating a final copy. On 11/6, your child should come home with a rough draft all marked up stapled to the top of the original graphic organizer. With this will be a letter explaining the expectations and due date for final copies. Please contact me if anything is unclear or your child comes home without the necessary parts.
Next week, we will move on to brainstorming for future expository pieces. In addition we will begin looking at the spelling patterns for the long /e/ sound for spelling, and tricky (commonly misspelled) words.
Klein's class only:
In SS, we will continue to learn about explorers who came through Texas. Week 9 of Texas Studies Weekly should have already gone home in case your child wanted to do the extra credit, or extension project about Columbus.
I still have a couple of kiddos who haven't paid for the field trip on the 18th. Just a reminder that the $39 activity fee covers the $33 for Goliad and the $6 for Westcave Preserve in the spring.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Check the Upcoming Dates link at the top of this page.
